CHAPTER I
NATURE AND OBJECTIVES
Art. 1 The Mathematics Professional Masters Degree in National Network (PROFMAT) is a stricto sensu postgraduate program, recognized and evaluated by CAPES, accredited by the National Education Council - CNE, validated by the Ministry of Education and leading to the title of Master.
Art. 2 The purpose of PROFMAT is to provide in-depth and relevant mathematical training to the exercise of teaching in Basic Education, aiming to give the egress the certified qualification for the exercise of the profession of Mathematics teacher.
Art. 3 PROFMAT is a semi-presential course conducted by Higher Education Institutions associated in a National Network, under the Aberta do Brasil University (Brazil's Open University) (UAB). It is coordinated by the National Academic Commission, which operates under the auspices of the Board of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM), with the support of the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA).
Note. Each campus that composes the National Network it is named Associated Institution.
Art. 4 The criteria for adherence and the (continuous) evaluation of the Program, as well as the discrediting of National Network Institution, will be described in the PROFMAT Evaluation Standards.
CHAPTER II
ORGANIZATION
Art. 5 PROFMAT activities are coordinated by the National Academic Commission and the Institutional Academic Commissions. The functioning of these committees is determined by the program rules and regulations, in line with those of the Associated Institutions.
Art. 6 The National Academic Commission is an executive committee, which is composed by:
I- A National Academic Coordinator;
II- A National Academic Vice-Coordinator;
III- A PROFMAT's representative professor;
IV- A PROFMAT graduated student;
V- A SBM representative.
§1 The National Academic Coordinator and the National Academic Vice-Coordinator must be accredited professors from Associated Institutions;
§2 The members of the National Academic Commission are appointed by the SBM Board of Directors with a two-year term of office, allowed to be reappointed;
§3 The National Academic Commission is chaired by the National Academic Coordinator.
Art. 7 The attributions of the National Academic Commission are:
I- Coordinate the organization of all PROFMAT actions and activities, aiming at its academic excellence, including teaching, research and extension activities;
II- Prepare and publish on the PROFMAT website, with the approval of its members, edicts and academic norms aiming at compliance with the previous item;
III- Maintain the PROFMAT website updated with the support of the SBM Secretariat;
IV- Coordinate the activities of National Access Exams and National Qualification Exams;
V- Prepare and submit to the SBM Board of Directors the PROFMAT Annual Activity Report;
VI- Monitorate and approve the information about the Program in CAPES systems and in the Academic Control System (SCA), with a view to academic evaluation and scholarships;
VII- Organize the National Coordinators Meetings;
VIII- Designate specific committees to fulfill Program activities;
IX- To certify the fulfillment of the national requirements for the issuance of the authenticity stamps of the diplomas, according to Art.
X- Decide on formal demands of the Associated Institutions and any situations not provided for in these Rules;
XI- Submit to CAPES a proposal to join the Program, as well as to disqualify the National Network of Associated Institution, in accordance with the PROFMAT Evaluation Standards;
XII- Propose to the SBM Board of Directors amendments to these Rules.
Note. Commits to the National Academic Coordinator to be responsible for the proper execution of all duties of the National Academic Commission.
Art. 8 The Associated Institution shall designate, in accordance with the rules and regulations in force at the institution, an Institutional Academic Commission, which is chaired by the Institutional Academic Coordinator.
Note. The Coordinator and Vice-Coordinator of the Institutional Academic Commission are members with Doctorate Degree, appointed according to the rules and regulations of the Associated Institution.
Art. 9 The attributions of each Institutional Academic Commission are:
I- To elaborate the Program Rules in the Associated Institution in accordance with its respective rules and those of PROFMAT, which shall include:
a) Criteria for accreditation and disqualification of its teachers in line, where appropriate, with PROFMAT Evaluation Standards;
b) Standards and criteria for student evaluation and mandatory attendance of students in each activity;
c) Rules and criteria for the locking and cancellation of students enrollment in disciplines, cancellation of enrollment or dismissal of the student;
d) Criteria for evaluation and composition of the examination boards of master dissertations;
e) The equivalence between workload and course credits;
f) The definition of rules for the use of subjects in the Associated Institution;
g) transfer criteria;
h) The sanctions applicable to disciplinary infractions of students;
i) The maximum term for students to complete the course;
j) Requirements to obtain the master's degree.
II- Keep updated the official documentation, with the National Academic Coordination, of the designation of the Institutional Academic Commission;
III- Coordinate the organization and execution of all actions and activities of the Program in the Associated Institution, including the fulfillment of the programming of each discipline;
IV- Accredit and disqualify the faculty members of the Associated Institution, in accordance with its institutional rules and the PROFMAT Evaluation Rules;
V- Coordinate the application in the Associated Institution of all National Exams determined by the National Academic Coordination, including National Access Exams and National Qualification Exams;
VI- Define, at each period, the curricular activities in accordance with the Academic Standards of PROFMAT;
VII- Organize complementary activities, such as lectures and workshops;
VIII- Organize and insert in the CAPES Sucupira Platform and SCA the information related to the execution of PROFMAT in their institution, with a view to periodic evaluation of the Program's performance;
IX- Organize, insert and keep up to date the CAPES scholarship management system.
Single paragraph. It is the responsibility of the Coordinator of each Associated Institution to be responsible for the proper execution of all duties of the Institutional Academic Commission.
Art. 10 The PROFMAT professors of the National Network are composed by all accredited professors in each one of the Associated Institutions.
CHAPTER III
NATIONAL ACCESS EXAM AND REGISTRATIONS
Art. 11 Students will be admitted to PROFMAT exclusively through the National Access Examination (ENA), which is regulated by a Notice prepared by the National Academic Coordination, previously published on the PROFMAT website.
Art. 12 All ENA performance rules are defined by Notice, including the registration requirements, the form and program content, the application times and the number of vacancies in each Associated Institution.
Art. 13 The PROFMAT National Evaluation Committee of Students, designated by ordinance of the coordination of the National Academic Commission, is responsible for preparing the ENA's question book.
Art. 14 Applicants are entitled to PROFMAT enrollment if they meet the requirements defined in the Notice and in the norms of the associated institutions and, in addition, are classified in the ENA for the year of enrollment.
§1 The schedule of enrollment of students in the Associated Institutions is defined in ENA Call.
§2 Enrollment and verification of documentation of candidates classified in the ENA are the sole responsibility of each Associated Institution.
Art. 15 Students regularly enrolled in PROFMAT in each Associated Institution are part of the postgraduate student body of this institution.
CHAPTER IV
CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND EVALUATION
Art. 16 The PROFMAT national pedagogical project offers classroom and distance activities, which are organized into compulsory subjects, electives and final completion work of PROFMAT, according to the Curriculum Matrix defined by the National Academic Commission.
§1 Each year, PROFMAT subjects are offered on a regular basis in three academic periods: First Term, Second Term and Summer Period, according to the schedule established by the National Academic Commission.
§2 The descriptions, menus, programs and bibliographies of the subjects are defined in the Course Catalog, elaborated and regularly reviewed by the National Academic Commission.
Art. 17 The teachers of the disciplines are appointed by the Institutional Academic Commission among the members of its faculty, whose function is to ensure the proper functioning of all the activities of the discipline in their Institution, including: to fulfill the program, to elaborate, to apply and to correct all evaluations; as well as gauge student performance and issue the final concept.
CHAPTER V
BASIC SUBJECTS AND THE NATIONAL QUALIFICATION EXAMINATION
Art. 18 The basic subjects of PROFMAT are the compulsory subjects MA11- Real Numbers and Functions, MA12- Discrete Mathematics, MA13- Geometry and MA14- Arithmetic, which are defined in the Curriculum Matrix and in the Course Catalog.
Art. 19 The National Qualification Exam (ENQ) consists of a single written assessment, offered twice a year, dealing with discursive questions involving the contents of the basic subjects and prepared by the National Commission for Evaluation of Students.
§1 The National Committee for Evaluation of Students of PROFMAT, designated by ordinance of the coordination of the National Academic Commission, is responsible for preparing and correcting the ENQ.
§2 The student must take the ENQ immediately after having passed the four basic subjects and within the period of completion of the course.
§3 The ENQ of each student is assigned the degree of Pass or Fail.
§4 Each student has only two consecutive opportunities to pass the National Qualification Exam.
§5 Students will be disconnected from PROFMAT after two failures in ENQ.
Art. 20 It is exclusively for the National Academic Commission to define and publish on the PROFMAT website the rules of each ENQ.
CHAPTER VI
PROFMAT TERM PAPER
Art. 21 The PROFMAT term paper may be presented in different formats, such as dissertation, systematic and thorough review of literature, article, patent, intellectual property records, technical projects, technological publications; development of applications, teaching and instructional materials and products, processes and techniques; production of media programs, editorials, final research reports, software, application design or technological adaptation, prototypes for the development or production of instruments, equipment and kits, technological innovation projects, without prejudice to other formats, according to specific themes. relevant to the Basic Education Mathematics curriculum and impact on classroom teaching practice.
Note 1. Regardless of the format presented, it is mandatory that the PROFMAT term paper need to has a formally written text.
Note 2. The evaluation criteria of the PROFMAT term paper shall be in accordance with the Program Rules of each Associated Institution.
Note 3. The examining board shall be composed of at least two teachers from the Program and one teacher from another institution, preferably not belonging to the PROFMAT.
Note 4. The members participation of the bank remotely shall be allowed.
Art. 22 The defense of the PROFMAT term paper can only occur after the approval of the student in ENQ.
CHAPTER VII
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER'S TITLE
Art. 23 To conclude PROFMAT, and obtain the respective Masters degree, the student must:
I- Have been approved in at least 9 (nine) subjects, including all mandatory subjects defined in the Course Catalog;
II- Have been approved in ENQ;
III-Have been approved in defense of the PROFMAT term paper;
IV-Have the final version of the formally written text inserted in the Academic Control System and Sucupira Platform by the Institutional Academic Coordination;
V- Meet all the legal requirements of your Associated Institution.
Note 1. The maximum term for payment of PROFMAT is defined by the Institutional Academic Commission in each Associated Institution, respecting its norms and its Rules of Procedure.
Note 2. The National Academic Commission issues SBM's seal of authenticity, according to the calendar defined by this committee, after the full compliance with the caput of this article.
Note 3. Each Associated Institution is responsible for issuing the diploma of its regularly enrolled student, who has fulfilled all the requirements defined in the caput of this article, as well as the mandatory seal of authenticity of SBM.
CHAPTER VIII
GENERAL PROVISIONS
Art. 24 The present Regiments may be reviewed by the SBM Board, or by initiative of the National Academic Commission.
Art. 25 All omitted cases will be resolved by the National Academic Commission, with the possibility of appeal to the Board of SBM.
Art. 26 These Rules shall come into force on this date, revoking all previous ones.
